i knew about elders being "deleted" and have commented what a strange and pejorative term that is, but it wasn't until "wtwizard" and "designs" commented on another thread about it that it actually hit home for me.. one cannot step down as an elder with any dignity!
elder's can't quit, with the word "quit" being as in "he quit his job.
" elder's can't resign as in "he resigned as chairman of the board for xyz corp.".
You can definitely tell a difference on how you are viewed after stepping down as elder, even with no issue. People automatically think you did something wrong, because why else would you leave such a"wonderful" position. However, you're still at the point where you don't want to disclose how much crap there is in the org. The family excuse is the easiest way out.
The elderettes then sure do act like they out rank you again.

he emailed me today and told me i could not return to class until i meet with him and the school dean, and if i didn't do it by monday he was going to assign an f for the course.

just curious if the crazy was limited to my town or not.. i remember and elder, during a talk about everyone being resurrected that it included all the babies that had miscarried or were aborted, because the big j knew what their hearts were.
after the meeting, he was telling a couple of us how it also disturbed him that his wife would have to carry someone elses babies and he would be raising someone elses children.. another elder said that we would colonize other planets, and that since the bible never said the big j didn't make other inhabited worlds that there was a whole universe of planets to colonize after armageddon.. anyone else hear crazy crap like this?.
Don't recall anything really strange an elder said, but I seen a video clip of this guy giving a talk and saying that Jehovah was going to put all the continents back together like Pangaea. I thought that was ridiculous.

when you get into a bit of trouble in the congregation or have certain questions/doubts over teachings and they want to study with you all over again?
you could have been a witness your whole life, know the bible teach/live forever/knowledge book front to back, even have studied with others and brought them into the religion - and the elder sitting across from you wants to know if a bible study would help you.
1. Easy time.
2. Only cost is driving back and forth to your house.
3. Out of the elements.
4. Good chance for refreshments.
5. High probability of getting to boast.

within the past decade, two elders stepped down in my old congregation.
actually one was taken off for commiting adultery and therefore reproved, but the other one simply stepped down for no apparent reason.
also, in another congregation i used to attend for a short time, i was shocked to hear of another elder stepping down, again for no apparent reason.. i am wondering if there has been an increase in the number of elders stepping down for no obvious reason and to see if this is a worrying trend causing alarm for the society.. i am thinking the past 10 years, particularly with the internet being available to so many people around the world today; but have you experienced many elders stepping down in your congregation or past congregation?
Even the best shit shoveller gets tied of shovelling the same shit after awhile.
I couldn't take it no more. By stepping down I didn't have to be knee deep in the shit anymore. Nor give talks and meetings parts, etc. Felt like a great weight was taken off my shoulders. Within a month was into a full fledged fade never to return again.

JW's had no problem making perdictions of the end of everybody else. It's funny that JW's don't see the humor in a group of X-JW's making a perdiction about the end of the JW system of things.
On the other hand lot's of mis-treated X-JW's out there who if they ever got organized could strongly voice their opinion of the WTS.
